Winter Hair tips by Top 4 Hair Salon

The season of dry hair approaches and all women out there rake through the internet to find ways to keep their hair safe. Now, there is no need to worry because Sweden’s very own hairstylist, Saif Yousifsson, has compiled here a list of tips to keep your hair safe this winter.

A hat a day keeps the dryness away:

Let’s start with the basics. Do not go out with your hair uncovered, especially if it is raining or snowing. The air during winters is chilly and parched; hence, it sucks out the moisture from your hair. This leads to damaged and dry hair; natural moisture is an essential part of keeping your hair healthy and fresh.

According to Saif Yousifsson, the solution is always to wear a cap or a hat when you go outside, as they keep the moisture retained.

Oiling goes a long way:

Saif Yousifsson also talks about how It is a struggle to oil your hair during summers with the humidity and the heat. Still, oiling during winters can be extremely beneficial. You will instantly feel fresh as your hair sucks in the nutrients you are giving them, and the dryness reduces.

The oiling technique used and recommended at Top 4 Hair is to oil your hair twice a week and massage the oil on your scalp. Moreover, leave the oil overnight for shinier and silkier hair after your morning shower.

Trimming is the go-to option:

A trim costs a reasonable amount, so it is easy to get done. Saif Yousifisson explains that during winters, your hair tends to dry out quicker, forming split ends. Hence, every other month, a trim is a good option to remove those split ends and give your hair a healthy growth chance.

Say no to everyday showers:

Everyday showers are a big no; even in summers, the hairstylist Saif Yousifsson forbids his clients to shower every day. When you shower and shampoo, you strip the natural oils from your hair, making it dry and itchy. Your hair is already dry enough in winters, so taking a shower every day makes them worse.

Hot water is cursed:

We get it; you can only survive winters by taking hot showers. However, fun, according to Saif Yousifsson, hot water is extremely dangerous to hair. It strips the hair of moisture and makes it more vulnerable to breaking. So, for the sake of your hair, lower the temperature of the water when you wash your hair.

Put aside those curling wands:

Top 4 Hair always recommends its clients to go for the natural look instead of using heat styling. Especially during winters, curling wands and straighteners make your hair drier than ever.

You are recommended to let your hair be in its natural state. However, if you still feel like waves or curls, you can go for the overnight curls technique by Saif Yousiffson* (LINK 1st ARTICLE HERE)

Make weekly hair masks your best friend:

Saif Yousifsson recommends that you Select a day, and every week on that day, tend to your hair like it is your baby. We mean it: prepare a hair mask, apply it for an hour at a maximum and then wash it off. Hair masks are a must during every season, and they cost nothing too.

The best natural hair mask recommended by Saif Yousifsson is the egg and oil mask: Mix two tablespoons of coconut oil with an egg and apply it to your hair. Leave it on for an hour, and then wash it off to give yourself shiny and silky hair!

Silk equals’ silky hair:

Silk is a natural and the least allergic cloth present out there. It prevents split hair and tangles. Hence, Top 4 Hair experts recommend using silk pillow covers, silk cloth to dry your hair, and to wear silk scarves before wearing woolen caps. Condition the right way:

Skipping the conditioner during summers is acceptable, but during winters, it is strictly prohibited. Use a conditioner that is creamy and thick; Saif Yousifsson recommends shea butter and coconut conditioners.

Apply the conditioner after you have shampooed your hair and rinsed them properly. Conditioner should be applied only from the mid of your hair to the end to prevent split ends. Let your hair sit for a few minutes before rinsing the conditioner off.

All these tips are the favorites of Saif Yousiffson himself, and it is his vision that every woman out there gains confidence from her hair. So don’t look around; simply follow these basic techniques to get lovely hair this winter. For more lovely hair looks, take a look at our Facebook page.
