Allan Rich Honored for Lifetime in Entertainment at Los Angeles Tribune International Film Festival

LOS ANGELES — Acclaimed songwriter and producer Allan Rich, whose work has been recorded by some of the most recognizable voices in modern music, was honored at the 2026 Los Angeles Tribune International Film Festival with a prestigious award recognizing a lifetime of achievement and influence in entertainment.

Rich received a specially designed award created by internationally recognized artist Sir Daniel K. Winn, marking one of the signature honors presented during this year’s festival.

The recognition celebrated a career that has crossed music, motion pictures and popular culture for decades.

Rich is a multiple Academy Award, Grammy and Golden Globe nominee whose songs have sold more than 65 million copies. His credits include writing for an extraordinary roster of artists spanning generations, among them *Whitney Houston, Barbra Streisand, Tina Turner, Rod Stewart, Luther Vandross, Dolly Parton, Patti LaBelle, Gladys Knight, Chaka Khan, Natalie Cole, Kenny Loggins, James Ingram and NSYNC. Perhaps most famously, Rich co-wrote “Run to You,” performed by Whitney Houston for The Bodyguard. The song earned Academy Award and Grammy nominations and became part of one of the most successful soundtrack projects in history. Rich and Friedman also wrote James Ingram’s No. 1 hit “I Don’t Have the Heart,” as well as “For the First Time,” recorded by Kenny Loggins for the George Clooney and Michelle Pfeiffer film One Fine Day. The latter brought Rich additional Academy Award, Grammy and Golden Globe recognition. (allan-rich)

His body of work represents something increasingly rare in entertainment: a career capable of surviving changing generations, formats and trends while continuing to leave its imprint on popular culture.

That longevity made Rich a natural choice for special recognition at the Los Angeles Tribune International Film Festival, an event built around the intersection of film, music, storytelling and cultural impact.

The presentation also reflected the festival’s broader ambition to recognize not simply the newest names in entertainment, but the individuals whose work helped build the creative foundation upon which contemporary artists and filmmakers continue to stand.

Rich was joined during the presentation by Dr. Emily Letran and Dr. Moe Rock, as the audience celebrated a career that has connected recording studios, Hollywood films and some of the most enduring performers of the last several decades.

The award itself added another layer of significance to the moment. Designed by Sir Daniel K. Winn, the piece transformed the traditional festival honor into an original work of art—an appropriate tribute for a recipient whose own career has been defined by creating work designed to endure.

For Rich, the recognition represented more than another professional distinction. It was a public acknowledgment of a body of work that has quietly existed behind some of entertainment’s most familiar voices and defining musical moments.

For the Los Angeles Tribune International Film Festival, the presentation reinforced a larger message about Los Angeles and its place in global entertainment.

At a time when the entertainment industry continues to evolve, the festival has positioned itself as a gathering place where established legends, emerging filmmakers, artists and international storytellers can share the same stage. Honoring Rich placed that mission in sharp focus: celebrating the people whose creative contributions have transcended individual projects and become part of the cultural record.

From Whitney Houston and Barbra Streisand to James Ingram, Kenny Loggins and generations of artists who followed, Allan Rich’s songwriting has traveled far beyond the room in which it was originally created.

At LATIFF 2026, Los Angeles had an opportunity to recognize the man behind those songs—and a lifetime spent helping create the soundtrack of modern entertainment.
