Big Tech’s Pivotal Role In Shaping The Future Of Blackjack

Big Tech companies have become universal in every aspect of our lives. For some, it has become so ubiquitous that it is on the cusp of feeling suffocating and stripping autonomy from the things we enjoy, such as the arts, writing, reading, and human-driven ideas.

While it is reductive to paint this as a black-and-white issue, and there are legitimate grievances about the transformative repercussions of technology on how our world works, casino gaming has been able to leverage many of the positive factors to its advantage.

Mobile casino games, along with the underlying technology and design, have reshaped how this market works. In fact, the first wave of the online casino gaming revolution took place online, which was again ushered in by the might of Big Tech.

But when it comes to games that have been around for centuries, like blackjack, there are several areas where Big Tech will have the final say and ultimately determine the course of how blackjack will look ten or twenty years from now.

Mapping The Current Blackjack Market Dynamic

It’s been a remarkable journey for those who remember the days before online blackjack and what the market now looks like because of technological ingenuity. In its modern form, blackjack still retains many of the intangibles of its original design that transcends any casino.

More recently, though, the rise of AI and cloud computing has transformed the experience for those who play table games like blackjack online. There are many reasons behind this. The key one is that it is easier to play blackjack online, and there’s a much broader range of payment methods available.

Yes, conventional blackjack can still draw a crowd, especially for those who prefer to have the social angle and the aura of a casino. But on every other metric, whether you want to play with crypto assets or you are looking for a more well-rounded set of promotions, online blackjack and casinos are the main route – hence their popularity and market dominance.

As you can see in the link below, giveaways have evolved from free spins to themed giveaway ideas that include a range of different products, and technology’s dominance in gaming, which has helped this form of the game achieve such consistent success online, is a reason why platforms are thinking so inventively outside the box.

Automation & Blackjack – Getting The Balance Right

There’s usually a sweet spot between gaming and innovation that can earn a majority-positive view from consumers, designers, and casino gaming platforms all round. The journey to this stage is where the turbulence occurs.

When it comes to blackjack, we are talking about a game that is older than anybody on the planet who plays it; it was played in saloons in the Wild West, moved with the boom of conventional casinos throughout the last century, and now mirrors the consumer demand of the contemporary market.

For technology companies and those developing the latest cutting-edge blackjack games, it was about bottling this appeal and keeping it, all while embracing the latest tech. It is a careful balance, as many players will still enjoy playing with a live dealer, for instance, but they also enjoy playing with assets like Bitcoin and Ethereum.

However, remove the live dealer for an automated one, which is where some believe blackjack could be heading, and who knows how much of the current market they could lose?

Redefining The Concept Of Money

The “concept of money” sounds like a trite, lazy phrase. However, for Millennials and older people, money has always had an ironclad definition. It was coins, notes, or cheques you could hold in your hand and exchange for products and services. It was centralized and overseen by large multinational lenders and providers, simple, nothing else to it, right?

Digital assets have turned this idea on its head since 2008, removing banks and guaranteeing highly secure, transparent payment options. While Bitcoin started off in the quiet corners of the internet, over time, it has redefined the concept of money as we know it and become a multi-trillion-dollar asset.

Cryptocurrency has become a worthy challenger to conventional payment providers because it offers something new, is equally secure, and is tailored to a digital market. When online blackjack first emerged, technology companies worked night and day to ensure they could deliver high-speed.

High-spec tables where people could play blackjack online, while ensuring they kept the fabric of the game intact, so they did not deter a customer base so used to playing blackjack in a brick-and-mortar casino.

Once these systems were in place, the next move was to integrate entirely digital payment options, which is what cryptocurrency is. No borders, no banks, and direct payments between you and your chosen blackjack casino.

Big Tech Crashing The AI Party

Although today we are talking primarily about blackjack, you can apply many of these points to the casino gaming market in a broader context.

For all the talk and noise about how AI is coming to take jobs and dominate the economy, there has been a shakier feel to its appeal over recent months. We have seen their stocks take a dip, and some of the most robust economies are betting big on AI.

Gaming companies, social media giants, banking, and health care, pick one – have poured trillions of dollars into AI development. The S&P 500 is up close to 80% since May 2023, fueled heavily by AI.

So, there are growing calls that AI could be heading toward a dotcom bubble-style moment, or that many of the advances, especially in gaming, are reaching the ceiling of their potential.

The world’s biggest tech giants like Amazon, Google, and Microsoft have been pivoting their capital into this new technology to ensure they have a horse in the race, as you can see in the infographic below.

Also, California is usually a great economic indicator, and with California being one of the most AI-ready states in the US, don’t expect the AI hysteria to slow down too significantly.

Apple, despite being one of the few tech companies in the world with a multi-trillion-dollar market capitalization, had a crisis meeting to discuss its slow uptake of AI innovation, which is another enormous indicator of how Big Tech companies are clamoring to reinvent themselves as AI pioneers.

Algo’s & Socials – The New Billboards & TV Spots

Tech companies have been instrumental in realigning consumer needs, and from a marketing point of view, they have created a world that has brought billions of eyes and ears to stare at their phones and screens all day.

The number of people requiring conventional media and marketing, such as billboards, TV, newspapers, and radio spots, has declined significantly. Algorithms and social media are now the main currency in marketing.

It’s a process that has been happening for over two decades now, but social media has filled this void. So, suddenly, tech companies found themselves holding the keys to the kingdom. In less than a decade, they went from providing the innovative devices we used to call our friends to being the whole foundation of a new marketing strategy.

It became easier and cheaper, with a much larger potential market, and incorporated the digital payment innovations we discussed earlier, as you can see in the link below.

They have solidified their presence since the beginning of this decade, and for those in the market to become a big name in the blackjack world, if they can crack the algorithm and find a global online audience, the sky is the limit.

Looking Ahead

Ultimately, the most important talking point today is finding the right balance for customers. Blackjack companies might bring in AI live dealers that can do all the same things a human can, but if people find it impersonal and can’t have the back-and-forth banter they can with a human, then they will be pushed back toward more conventional types of gaming.

Automated technology has been highly beneficial to the growth of blackjack, from randomized card-shuffling systems to secure blockchain smart contracts that can automatically execute commands.

There is a balance, but tech companies’ dominance means they will be the ones to determine this route, and ultimately, if they throw enough money at an idea, that will be the one that sticks. Either way, to end on a blackjack analogy, they hold an ace and a jack.
