At just 25 years old, Diana Amyrkhanian has already made a name for herself in the world of rhythmic gymnastics. A former gymnast turned elite coach, she has helped shape the careers of top-level athletes while earning international recognition for her expertise.
Born and raised in Kyiv, Ukraine, Diana attended School 57, where she studied English intensively before fully dedicating herself to gymnastics. She later earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the National University of Physical Education and Sports of Ukraine (NUPESU), graduating with honors and specializing in rhythmic gymnastics coaching.
Her coaching career began at Sport Club “RG OLIMP”, where she quickly advanced from coaching juniors to becoming head coach and choreographer for both junior and senior gymnasts. By 2020, she was also coaching the National Team of NUPESU, training Ukraine’s top senior gymnasts. Her expertise soon attracted international attention, leading to an invitation to Portugal in 2017 to choreograph routines for top athletes.
In 2022, she took on a major leadership role as the Head Coach of the Armenian National Team of Rhythmic Gymnastics, overseeing around 50 gymnasts across different levels. Under her guidance, one of her athletes competed in the European Junior Championships and continues to represent Armenia on the world stage.
Despite her young age, Diana’s influence in the sport is undeniable. She has trained five Masters of Sport of Ukraine and over 15 Candidates for Master of Sport, an impressive feat for any coach, let alone one so young.
Her impact extends beyond Ukraine. When the war broke out in 2022, many of her students and their families emigrated. Diana played a key role in placing them with top gymnastics programs across Europe, ensuring they continued to thrive.
One of her athletes, Veronika Volianyuk, relocated to Berlin and went on to become Germany’s absolute national champion, earning a spot on the German national team. Another athlete in Austria became a national champion and has won multiple international medals. Even from afar, Diana continues to coach and guide her athletes remotely.
Her contributions to the sport have not gone unnoticed. She was named “Youngest Coach of the Year” in Ukraine and later received “Coach of the Year” from the Armenian Federation of Rhythmic Gymnastics after her athlete’s success at the 2022 European Games.
Diana’s reputation extends beyond coaching. She is a licensed judge, officiating at national and international tournaments across Europe. Her career has taken her to Italy, Portugal, Spain, Croatia, Hungary, Poland, Germany, Slovakia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Lithuania, Latvia, Georgia, and Armenia, where she has built strong relationships with top clubs, coaches, and judges.
She is also highly sought after for her masterclasses, where she shares her expertise in the renowned Ukrainian school of rhythmic gymnastics, considered one of the strongest in the world. Her ability to blend Ukrainian precision with international techniques has made her a respected figure in the sport.
With an already extraordinary career and growing global influence, Diana Amyrkhanian is not only shaping the future of rhythmic gymnastics but also redefining what it means to be a young, dynamic coach on the world stage.
