VinFast Builds Its Brand Around What Others Overlook: Aftersales

In an EV market dominated by speed, specs, and scale, one automaker is taking a quieter—but potentially more enduring—approach. VinFast, the Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer now listed on Nasdaq, is building its brand around something many overlook: listening. The company believes that while the first wave of EV adoption was fueled by innovation and sleek design, the next phase will hinge on charging infrastructure, user-friendliness, and above all, trust.

This is where VinFast is planting its flag.

In the U.S., where EV adoption continues to grow but is still hampered by psychological and infrastructural roadblocks, VinFast is choosing a deliberate, human-centered strategy. Instead of chasing volume or touting technical specs, it’s focusing on something far more difficult to engineer—customer confidence.

For a newcomer to American roads, this approach isn’t just tactical—it’s foundational. VinFast aims to be a true partner in the EV transition, especially for first-time electric vehicle buyers still navigating unfamiliar territory.

At the heart of this philosophy is a commitment to aftersales support—often the most underestimated, yet most defining element of long-term brand loyalty. Every VinFast vehicles come with a 10-year or 125,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty, along with a 10-year, unlimited-mileage battery warranty under standard use. It’s one of the most generous warranty packages in the U.S. EV market today, sending a clear message: VinFast doesn’t disappear after the sale.

But support is more than just coverage on paper. VinFast’s aftersales service is delivered through a growing national network of franchise dealerships, each with dedicated service centers staffed by highly trained technicians and backed by a reliable supply of genuine parts. The goal is to provide fast, consistent, and transparent service that minimizes disruption—making sure every VinFast owner feels supported, locally and personally.

This focus on service infrastructure couldn’t be more timely. According to the 2025 J.D. Power U.S. Customer Service Index (CSI) Study, overall satisfaction with dealership service remains steady—but cracks are forming. The report highlights longer appointment wait times, declining communication standards, and ongoing repair quality concerns. Compared to 2018–2022, customers today face more delays, signaling a system under strain—and a clear opening for brands that can close this growing gap.

VinFast is moving to meet that challenge. It now operates franchise dealerships across 15 major states—including California, Florida, Texas, Illinois, and New York. These dealerships go beyond sales; they act as community hubs for repairs, maintenance, warranty service, and hands-on customer education. Specialized training programs ensure VinFast technicians are not only fluent in EV technology but also in the hospitality that defines Vietnamese service culture.

Affordability is another cornerstone. The midsize VF 8 starts at $39,900 (Eco) and $44,900 (Plus), with competitive lease offers beginning at $269/month. The flagship VF 9 enters at $62,900, with leases from $449/month. Both models qualify for 0% interest financing—helping to lower a common barrier for would-be EV adopters.

Collectively, these elements reveal a larger strategic focus: service as substance. While many automakers highlight acceleration, range, and performance, VinFast is investing in what ownership actually feels like. And that experience is often filled with questions: How long will my battery last? Where can I service it? What if something goes wrong?

VinFast’s answers are intentionally reassuring. A decade-long warranty. A nationwide and growing service network. Transparent pricing and financing. And a tone that favors understanding over urgency.

A Different Kind of Ambition

If the first chapter of EV disruption was about pushing the limits of innovation and aesthetics, the next one will be shaped by infrastructure, trust, and usability. That’s the long game VinFast is playing.

Its ambition is not just in product, but in people—in technicians trained to solve real problems, in dealers embedded in their communities, and in an ownership experience designed with longevity in mind.

For many American consumers still unsure about making the switch to electric, that kind of confidence-building may prove more persuasive than any horsepower figure. And for the broader industry, it’s a quiet reminder: progress isn’t just about how fast you go—it’s about how far you can carry trust.
