Leadership group Ascension Leadership Academy to support non-profit The SAFE Alliance
AUSTIN, TX – Ascension Leadership Academy, a local leadership program, is bringing together 26 volunteers to raise $50,000 by Sunday, June 8 for The SAFE Alliance, a non-profit that provides emergency shelter, trauma counseling, legal advocacy, and long-term support for survivors of abuse, violence, and trafficking in Central Texas.
The volunteers are coming from all over the country to raise awareness and the funds in 13 days by utilizing social media, holding an event and auction on Sunday, June 8, and will collect goods to equip SAFE’s new emergency shelter with everything the recipients may need to feel at home during their stay. The goal of the group is to bolster and amplify The SAFE Alliance’s already remarkable and valuable work in the community.

“It’s a privilege to support the work of The SAFE Alliance,” said Ascension Leadership Academy Community Service Captain, Carissa Johnsen.
“This campaign is proof that everyday people can come together and create massive, meaningful impact when they lead with heart and intention.”
This project comes at a crucial time. Every day in Central Texas, nearly a thousand children and adults turn to SAFE for refuge from abuse, violence, and trafficking experiences that leave lasting trauma. For 50 years SAFE has provided comprehensive care, from emergency shelter to long term counseling. Now, Ascension Leadership Academy’s 24th class is joining forces to amplify that impact, raising vital funds that directly support shelter, meals, counseling and advocacy for survivors.
“We are deeply moved by the commitment and passion of the Ascension Leadership Academy team,” said Laramie Gorbett, M.A. Development Officer SAFE.
“Their efforts come at a critical time when demand for our services is growing rapidly. This support will help us meet that demand and continue providing safety, healing, and hope to the thousands of survivors who count on us each year.”
