Los Angeles, CA • October 31st, 2024 — In a world captivated by grand stories and high-stakes events, quiet acts of kindness can often go unnoticed. The Los Angeles Tribune aims to recognize these smaller, yet profound, contributions that create ripples of positivity in the community.

it is with this spirit that The Los Angeles Tribune Tribune is awarding Ambassador Parking & Transportation Services the “Compassion in Service Impact Award,” honoring the valet team serving patients and families at Keck Hospital of USC for their often-unseen efforts of service workers who, through gestures of empathy and attentiveness, bring dignity and relief to those they serve.
The Compassion in Service Impact Award was established to recognize individuals and businesses whose commitment to compassionate care extends beyond job descriptions and titles. The Tribune believes that kindness and empathy are invaluable, especially in spaces like hospitals, where stress and anxiety are a constant. As the testimonies received by the Tribune reveal, Ambassador’s valet team has consistently provided this level of care, creating a humane, comforting experience at the hospital’s front doors.
One elderly woman described her surprise and gratitude when a valet attendant noticed that her tire was going flat. Before she even finished checking in, the attendant had changed the tire, sparing her the stress of arranging roadside assistance later. She shared. “I came here expecting a difficult day, and his help made everything feel so much easier.”
Such small but meaningful actions exemplify Ambassador’s approach. For regular visitors, the team’s support can create a lasting sense of community. Another patient shared, “We visit frequently for my mother’s treatments, and every time, the valet team greets us with warm smiles and remembers our names. They’re always ready to assist with her walker and make sure she’s comfortable before we go inside. Knowing we have their support makes each visit feel less daunting. It truly feels like we’re not just patients but part of a community that cares.”
The Tribune’s editorial team observed that these stories reflect a broader trend of recognizing those who work behind the scenes to bring compassion to public service roles. Ambassador Parking & Transportation Services joins an inspiring lineup of recipients of Impact Awards intended to spotlight humane service. Earlier this month, in honor of World Mental Health Day, The Los Angeles Tribune awarded 12 exemplary organizations and individuals who serve as care providers and advocates in the mental health space with distinct Impact Awards during the Les Brown Power of Possibilities Tour Awards Gala, October 12, 2024 at the LAX Marriott Hotel, highlighting the impact of compassion in advocacy and care.
In the same way, the Tribune hopes that Ambassador’s recognition will highlight the value of compassion in the service industry and inspire other organizations to prioritize empathy. The valet team’s work goes beyond the simple act of parking cars, reaching into the lives of those who come to the hospital at vulnerable moments and easing the burden of their day-to-day challenges.
The Tribune is proud to honor Ambassador Parking & Transportation Services as a reminder that heroes do exist beyond capes and scrubs. True care extends beyond titles or uniforms—showing that simple acts, done with sincerity, can make an impact that resonates far beyond a single day.
