The Los Angeles Tribune and YBNB (Young, Black, and in Business) are proud to announce a joint initiative called “Empowering Voices.” This collaboration aims to promote diversity in media by amplifying underrepresented voices, fostering economic development, and empowering young entrepreneurs and creatives in Southern California. By working together, we hope to create a more inclusive and dynamic media landscape that reflects the rich cultural tapestry of our region.
Goals:
Increase representation: Amplify the voices of minority entrepreneurs, creatives, and communities in the Los Angeles Tribune and other media platforms.
Create opportunities: Develop and implement programs, workshops, and resources that help young minority entrepreneurs and creatives break into the media industry.
Foster collaboration: Encourage networking and collaboration between minority entrepreneurs, creatives, and media professionals in Southern California.
Support education: Offer mentorship, internships, and scholarships for young minority individuals pursuing careers in media, journalism, and related fields.

Promote inclusivity: Advocate for inclusive hiring practices and diversity training within the media industry.
Share success stories: Highlight the accomplishments of minority entrepreneurs and creatives, inspiring the next generation of leaders.

Initiative Outline:
Media Partnership: The Los Angeles Tribune and YBNB will collaborate on content creation, featuring stories that celebrate the accomplishments of minority entrepreneurs and creatives, as well as addressing the challenges they face. This partnership will result in a dedicated column or section in the Los Angeles Tribune, along with digital content on both organizations’ websites and social media channels.
Empowering Voices Speaker Series: A series of panel discussions, workshops, and webinars featuring minority entrepreneurs, creatives, and media professionals, sharing their insights and experiences with aspiring talents. These events will provide valuable networking opportunities and help participants gain industry knowledge.
Mentorship and Internship Program: The Los Angeles Tribune and YBNB will develop a mentorship and internship program that pairs young minority individuals with experienced professionals in the media industry. This program will offer hands-on experience, guidance, and support in pursuing media careers.
Annual Empowering Voices Awards: A yearly award ceremony celebrating the achievements of minority entrepreneurs and creatives in Southern California. These awards will recognize outstanding accomplishments in various categories, raising the profile of recipients and inspiring others to follow in their footsteps.
By working together, the Los Angeles Tribune and YBNB aim to create lasting change in the media industry, fostering a more inclusive and vibrant landscape that empowers and inspires future generations.
