Chelsea Muirhead, the newest lady of the hit HBO Max series Warrior, will debut in March 2023. In this exclusive interview, Chelsea talks about her past projects and achievements, her excitement for her new role, and what audiences can expect from season 3.
A: Can you tell us about your background and how you got started in acting?
Chelsea: Sure, I attended the Ryerson theatre school in Toronto and have been fortunate to participate in some notable projects. My first significant project was Slo Pitch on Amazon Prime and AMC, which has won several awards at various festivals. Adult Adoption is currently doing its festival run in New York, Calgary, Glasgow, London, and a few more that have yet to be brought to my attention from production.
Q: Congratulations on your new role in Warrior! Can you share details about your character and what drew you to the project?
Chelsea: Thank you! This year, I have been met with the most significant career opportunity thus far. As a new leading cast member of the hit TV show Warrior, I would like to share my excitement and love for this project. After more than two years off the air, the fans have brought this incredible show back to its feet. I’ve been blessed with the gift of playing within the walls of Chinatown. It’s a beautiful story and a great experience, and it’s a show people need to see for many reasons.
My character’s name is Yan Mi, and she’s a young woman who comes to America from China to pursue her dream of becoming an actress. She faces many challenges and obstacles, but she’s determined to succeed. What drew me to this project was the opportunity to be part of a show that not only has the pulpy, sexy, action-filled swagger that we love to watch on HBO but also touches on some very prevalent issues that we are currently facing in our world. Even though this show is set in the late 1800s, we are still experiencing hate and social inequality today. Beyond the stunning cinematography, we are simply highlighting what it is to be human and what it takes to fight for your beliefs, especially in a world that feels like it’s against you.
Q: Can you share with us any details about the new season?
Chelsea: Season 3 of Warrior is set to be released in March 2023, and it’s the biggest and worst yet. I can’t give too much away, but the action is intense, the characters are complex, and the storyline is gripping. This show will keep you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end.
Q: What do you think sets apart the female characters in the show Warrior? Is there anything about your personality, Yan Mi, that resonates with you?
Chelsea: What I particularly love about this project are the women. The female characters on the show are such powerful and driven individuals—absolute warriors in every sense. Yes, our performance has much blood, guts, and action. However, these women genuinely exemplify how powerful femininity can be. I believe every character comes to each chapter when they’re ready to face themselves in specific ways, and this character has certainly done that for me. She represents hope. Everybody in this show is fighting to survive. Yan Mi (my character) shows us what fighting for your dreams is like.
Warrior is a must-watch for those who enjoy action-packed dramas with a touch of history. With its diverse cast of characters, unique storyline, and thrilling fight scenes, it’s no wonder that the show has garnered a cult following. And now, with the addition of Chelsea Muirhead as the newest leading lady, viewers are in for a treat. Muirhead’s portrayal of Yan Yu is impressive, showcasing her actress and martial artist talent. Take advantage of the opportunity to witness Muirhead’s take on the leading role in this HBO series.
