Under the direction of John Bommarito, The Bommarito Automotive Group has risen to become Missouri’s #1 choice for consumers in all of their automotive needs. John came from an automotive background, and it was his father, Frank Bommarito, who first started The Bommarito Automotive Group.
John grew up in a family that valued hard work and a continuous work ethic. It wasn’t long until John started working in the family business. He was only 12 years old when he started parking and washing new cars for delivery.
At 15, he was promoted to the service and parts department so that he could learn how the “backbone” of the business worked. While in High School, he would attend school during the day and work at the Ellisville automotive location in the evening.
However, despite his full schedule, he worked hard both in school and out and ended up graduating in the top two percent of his class. He then won and accepted a scholarship to attend Eckerd College in Florida.
Interestingly enough, he pursued a degree in the Psychology and Premedical field. He again excelled in his classes and graduated with honors in 1987. Planning to get a graduate degree in the medical field, he applied and was accepted to Stanford University Medical School.
However, with a strong urge to return to the automotive business, he decided to take a year off and return to the family business.
As seems to be a pattern in John’s life, he fully applied himself and continued to see success. He started selling new Mazdas but was quickly promoted to Finance Manager. Shortly after, he became the sales manager and then was promoted to General Manager. He continued to bring in record-breaking sales every year.
John was already building a name for himself and in 1992, General Motors asked him to purchase an Oldsmobile-Cadillac store that had fallen into bankruptcy. Originally, the store was only selling 25 units a month, but, when John took over, it quickly rose to 280 units per month and was awarded Mazda’s most prestigious award—The President’s Club Award.
John, in 1998 took over as President of the Group and continued to buy new dealerships and expand the Bommarito Automotive Group’s empire.
Expanding the company’s reach to the racing world, John created the Bommarito Automotive Group 500 and sponsored the following INDYCAR Series Event. He also went on to start a NASCAR Gander Outdoor Truck and Xfinity Series team with partner and driver Jordan Anderson.
By 2019, the Bommarito 500 Indy Car race was recognized as the 3rd largest attended race in the series. Ever the salesman, John created the “Audience Enhancement Program” which resulted in a record attendance of the Bommarito 500. He then continued to move into the NASCAR world by developing the #3 Bommarito Chevy Truck Series and #31 Bommarito Chevrolet Xfinity team.
Because of John’s outstanding sales and service record, he has won numerous franchise “President Club Awards.” To this day, the Bommarito Automotive Group continues to see growth under John’s leadership.
John’s ingenuity, hard work, and dedication have resulted in tremendous success, and it is no wonder that the Bommarito Automotive Group is now Missouri’s #1 choice for consumers in all of their automotive needs.
