Travis Hearn Leverages Influence and Affluence to Make an Impact

Bring hope to the hurting, show love and kindness, make an impact, be the light in the world. These are more than just nice thoughts, more than dreams of a better world. These are actionable principles that Pastor Travis Hearn is sharing with his team and congregation, to cultivate a generation of difference-makers.

Travis Hearn is the senior pastor for Impact Church in Scottsdale, Arizona. He took over the church, along with his ministry partner, Andre Wadsworth, in 2010. At the time, it was a modest congregation of 200 people, but they quickly began seeing significant growth. Both Travis and Andre already had established connections and relationships with many pro athletes, leading and hosting bible studies with them and working as chaplain for Major League Baseball, the NBA and the NFL.

He realizes that his unique position of prominence among celebrity athletes provides him with the opportunity to impact people who have very extensive followings, potentially allowing him to reach exponentially more people, directly and indirectly. “God has allowed me the ability to influence the influencers. If I can help somebody that has influence, I can maximize my impact. People with great influence are still human. They go through trials and tribulations just like anybody else. They have hearts and  hurts just like all of us. My heart is to be a difference maker.” And impact, as the name implies, is the goal. “The heart of the vision is to make an impact, so more people go to heaven when they die, and less people go through hell while they live.”

The truth is, it’s not all about professional athletes and celebrities. Everyone has influence. He encourages his congregation to utilize their influence to positively affect change in their communities and within their circles. The vision is kept fresh, training members to act on every opportunity to be the light, serving people and each other.

Impact Church’s vision is clear and simple: impact the world and be a light. “To whom much is given, much is required…It’s about us being blessed to be a blessing.” This is the passion in Travis Hearn’s heart for the church and the world, to pour out one’s life as an offering, giving back everything God has given, hoping it will help many people.
