DUSTIN WOLF, a professional dancer born in Canada, shares what his journey has been like growing up in the dance world and now working on big name productions. Dustin has worked on the sets of Disney’s Sneakerella and Netflix’s Julie and the Phantoms. We got to sit down with Dustin and discuss what his training and experiences were like from his early days in Canada to his experiences in LA.
You have been dancing since a very young age.. tell us about your early days. Have you always had a passion for dance?
Yes, absolutely! I have been dancing and training my whole life. I didn’t begin dancing competitively until I was about 12 years old. I trained at Lets Dance LTD and during my first solo, I won 1st place at every competition! It was certainly an indicator to my teachers and mentors that I should continue to dance competitively, which I was excited to do and continue my passion.
You have won many awards during your competitive dancing days; specifically worth mentioning, you won Mr. Dance of Canada! Along with multiple scholarship winnings with NYCDA, what was your experience like with those?
Mr. Dance was a fantastic experience! I was honoured to represent Canada and be able to meet fellow title holders from all around the world at nationals. NYCDA is so special to me! I grew up going to the convention and went to the nationals multiple times as a scholarship winner. In my final year competing I won my Point Park University scholarship through the NYCDA nationals scholarship foundation. I am so thankful for being able to go to school in the US and the doors that it has opened for me.

Wow! So you went from a small-town in Canada to training at one of the top dance programs in the country… what happened after that?
After earning my Bachelors of Fine Arts at PPU I went straight to LA! From my four years at Point Park I received a post grad work visa that allowed me to apply my skills and passion to practical training and work opportunities! I signed with one of the top dance agencies, Bloc, on the first day I landed. From there I made amazing friendships, connections, and was able to work on some great projects. I love LA and can’t wait to be back!
Amazing journey! Where are you now and what’s next for Dustin Wolf?
Since leaving Los Angeles I have been able to work on many amazing projects with Netflix, Disney, and more! Some of which include the Emmy award winning show Julie and the phantoms and the upcoming Disney film Sneakerella! I am now wanting to transition back to Los Angeles, it truly is a second home for me so I hope to be able to return soon!
Thank you Dustin for sharing your training, experiences and awards with us! We are excited to see you come back to LA and can’t wait for what you accomplish next.
