Ethan Schulteis is a Wisconsin-based content creator known on YouTube as “The Amagi.”
YouTube Content Creation
Schulteis’s namesake YouTube channel features anime reviews and detailed overviews of manga and otaku culture, as well as other Japanese-based content. Thematically, he focuses on franchises such as “Naruto” and “Avatar: The Last Airbender.”
Schulteis was born in 2002 and launched his YouTube channel in 2016. Disappointed by the view count of his first video, he let his channel sit for two years before picking things up again in 2018. He began to experiment with different formats and styles, including news videos and interviews, before settling on the fictional histories of animated worlds.
On June 28, 2020, “The Amagi” channel gained over 100,000 subscribers—surpassing 1 million subscribers on August 20, 2021, which earned Schulteis the coveted YouTube Gold Play Button awarded. (Schulteis was awarded the Silver Play Button on July 27, 2020.)
Partnerships and Thematic Focus
Today Schulteis uploads anime reviews and other content focusing on the backgrounds of characters, locations, and other information from anime and manga franchises.
In addition to his primary channel, Schulteis oversees “The Amagi 2,” which reviews fictional live-action worlds rather than animated ones, and “Ethan Schulteis,” a personal channel composed of vlogs from the creator’s own life.
Schulteis is also engaged in a number of brand partnerships. In July 2020, he partnered with the Avatar Wiki as a content creator. In October 2021, the Channel Frederator Network hired Schulteis to produce content for their “ChannelFrederator” YouTube account. That same year, Schulteis partnered with Unilingo to translate content from his main YouTube channels into Hindi.
View Counts and Associated Acts
As of November 2021, Schulteis’s main channel has over 1 million subscribers and more than 200 million views.
Combined, his accounts boast 3.35 million subscribers and more than 829 million views.
