The established wholesaler of plumbing supplies and industrial tools sees explosive demand online during lockdowns
HOUSTON, TX – City Supply Company, Inc, one of the oldest wholesalers of plumbing supplies in the United States had the launch of its e-commerce website coincide with the start of the pandemic; shortly after, orders started pouring in. “Initially, our current customer base was thrilled when we announced the launch, specially when we started offering a dedicated chat line where they could request quotes and have an online conversation with the sales representatives they have known for years,” says City Supply’s Marketing Manager Manuel Mala. “A few weeks into the pandemic, orders started coming in from all over the country and the feedback so far has been extremely positive.”
City Supply has been able to differentiate itself from the competition by offering quick access to knowledgeable product experts that can guide the site’s visitors and help institutional customers comply with internal procurement requirements. “Many of our new customers were fed up with having to wait for hours to speak with a real person who is also be able to answer product specific questions and recommend the right tools for every application,” says Mala. “Contractors and trade professionals simply don’t have the time to go through large catalogs every time they face a new challenge on the job. If they can describe their challenge, it’s our job to help them find the right supplies and tools for any application.”
The company’s new website is designed to encourage users to contact a real person either by chat, phone, or text. Immediately, visitors are routed to an experienced product expert who can source any specialty tool from a pool of over two hundred manufacturers. “We’ve always been known locally as the place to go to purchase hard-to-find items, or to special order products. Now we’re able to bring that experience online and the results so far have been terrific.”
City Supply Company was established in 1946 as a small local wholesaler in downtown Houston. The company has since evolved from a small family business to a multinational operation with hundreds of thousands of products in stock and partnerships with large institutional customers both in the private and public sectors.
