The entry of IOT technology into renewable energy has helped renewable energy gain popularity in the modern world. IoT infrastructure leverages renewable energy infrastructure to make it more efficient.
With IOT systems, people can connect all their renewable energy sources in one system. These systems can then be easily managed via a mobile app, a laptop, or a desktop computer.
To achieve this, several infrastructural frameworks have to be laid down. These are:
- Hardware Frameworks,
- Software Frameworks,
- Network Frameworks,
- Security Frameworks
- Data Center
- Hardware Frameworks
These consist of the physical components of the IOT system. They are sensors, processors, data entry devices, and cables.
Sensors collect data from the power grid. They gather data from the environment in real-time and send it to processors to make sense of it.
The processors take all the data received from the sensors all around the grid, process that data to create information that would be meaningful to users on demand. The processors used in the system have to be fast and powerful enough to provide the information as soon as it is needed.
- Mass Storage Devices
Mass storage devices store the information from sensors and processors for future reference and retrieval. The storage devices need to have enough space to accommodate all that data and information and be easily accessible. The devices should also be able to facilitate the easy retrieval of information.
- Software Frameworks
The software frameworks consist of the programs used to run the technological part of the system. The programs are a set of instructions that the system uses to accomplish its tasks
The software used has to be fast, reliable, and user-friendly. The smarter the software, the more efficient the system will be. The optimum software framework will have Ai software running all the tasks.
- Network Frameworks
In an ideal IOT system, devices communicate in real-time. Sensors collect data and send the data to processors, which process the data and send information wherever it is needed. For example, a system administrator can use his/ her tablet to request information from the system. I = That information needs to be available at his/ her request.
An elaborate network framework has to be laid down to allow efficient communication between devices in real-time to achieve this. For this to work, a network should have both wired and wireless frameworks.
Wired Network Frameworks
Wired network frameworks consist of cables as transmission media. Cables connect devices. This allows for the fast transmission of data. In cases where optical technology is used, data can be transmitted at the speed of light.
Wireless Network Frameworks
Wireless network frameworks do not require a physical connection between devices for data to be sent. This works great with portable devices.
These are the systems that are put in place to combat threats to the IOT system. The security system has to have a robust firewall and great encryption to keep experienced hackers at bay. It should leave no room for unwanted access.
IOT systems send and receive a lot of data. For this reason alone, data centers are an essential part of the system. Here, the data is received, processed, and stored. Data centers act as the headquarters of the IOT system.
