In this article, I’m going to discuss the coping mechanism for COVID boredom. So, grab your cup of coffee and learn about some interesting tips that will make you motivated all day.

Things To Do During Quarantine

You might be upset when thinking about what to do in quarantine? Don’t worry because I’m going to tell you some fantastic motivational and fun tips that will help you kill your boredom. So, without further delay, Let’s dive into it.

Following are some of the amazing and unique tips for making yourself motivated in times like this:

Make A To-Do List

I know some people don’t like to-do lists, and to be honest, I don’t like them either. But they are really helpful if you use them well. The to-do lists are best for planning your day. You can write whatever you want to do. You can fill them with exciting stuff like hobbies, Netflix, Hulu, video games, video calls with your friends, and much more.

It totally depends on you how you want to spend your day. But keep one thing in mind, take the news away from your to-do list because they’ll make you more stressed. The purpose of this to-do list is to manage your day in a fun way instead of a depressed and stressful way.

Exercise

You might be thinking, “Exercise? Really?” Well, Yes! Exercise because it is necessary for your physical as well as mental health. I know it’s hard for you to get up from your comfy bed or couch to make yourself fit. Even I’m not good at it, but believe me, if you start your day with only half an hour of exercise, you won’t feel lazy all day.

You can either join an online fitness class, or you can find some instructional dance videos. There are a lot of fun ways of doing exercise and keeping yourself healthy and fit all day. Even going for walk with your dog is a great way to exercise.

Separate Work and Home

This is the most important thing, “Separate work and home.” Since the start of this pandemic, almost everyone is working from home. Offices are being closed, and employees are asked to work from home.

If you are one of those employees working from their homes, you should keep your work and home activities separated. Try to find a separate spot in your home for your work-related tasks because maybe your family gets annoyed with your constant phone calls.

Don’t type your business reports while you are in your bed because you will end up sleeping.

Get Dressed

I know this might be sound crazy, but you should get dressed even when there is nowhere to go. Wearing your favourite clothes is a kind of safe entertainment during the quarantine. You can even try weird combinations of outfits in your free time because no one is there to judge you in your own house.

You can also try different hairstyles that best suits your looks. Here is an interesting fact that your brain makes you feel lazy when you stay in your PJ’s all day. But if you wear your proper clothes, your brain will signal you that it’s time to start your day.

Play Video Games

The self-motivation tips are not only for elders but also for students and kids. No doubt, schools have been closed because of the fear of spreading this pandemic. The students are also bored at home.

If you are a student and need motivation, then video games are the best motivation source. Please note, that too much of this isn’t good either. You can’t just sit in front of the TV and play video games all day. You have to play only when you feel less motivated. No doubt, video games boost your psychological skills.

Watch Movies On Netflix

Watching your favourite movie is one of those tips for motivating yourself. You can watch an interesting movie at night, or you can watch a movie with your family. There are a bunch of amazing motivational documentaries and movies you can watch to enlighten your mood in this pandemic.

I know it is really stressful watching the news about the pandemic all day. This is why I am suggesting you take some time from your busy routine and watch an interesting movie. Undoubtedly, Netflix is the best platform from where you can find some interesting movies.

Voice or Video Calls With Friends

I know you miss your friends and work colleagues. Everyone is socially disconnected from their friends, but thanks to the Internet. With the help of different platforms, you can get in touch with your friend and work colleagues.

The best way to get in touch with your friends or colleagues is by talking to them over a voice or a video call. You can motivate each other by sharing funny stories and experiences you encountered during this pandemic. I think this one is one of the best motivation tips so far because friends always know how to make you motivated and happy.

Read A Book or Listen To Podcasts

Reading a book is the best hobby that anyone can have. You learn a lot by reading books and magazines. You have multiple options as you can read motivational, love stories, fashion, and style, health, and care, etc.

Believe it or not, but podcasts are the best entertainment source if you know which one to listen to. You can find several different podcasts on the Google Podcast platform. They are usually categorized into motivational, comedy, business, and much more. You can also start your day with a small motivational podcast so that you won’t feel bored for the rest of your day.

Complete A Daily Puzzle

Another great way to keep yourself motivated and avoid boredom is to complete a daily puzzle. The puzzles make you determined and motivated towards completing them. It is the best coping mechanism for COVID.

Moreover, puzzles make you think out of the box and sharpen your memory.

Blogging

Blogging is one of the best motivation tips you can use to kill your boredom and keep yourself motivated. Starting a blog is so easy. There are multiple free blogging platforms that you can use to share your daily experiences in the form of blogs.

You can create a blog about cooking, movies, video games, books, and movies review. There are endless ideas for blogging, and it is the best way to spend your valuable time.

Things You Should Avoid During Pandemic

Just like motivational tips, there are some things you should avoid during this pandemic. I know everyone is frustrated and stressed by spending all day at home. It’s really hard for me as well. But I have figured out some things that we all should avoid during this pandemic.

So, the following are some things you should try to avoid in this quarantine:

Watching News Channels:

It is a good habit of always getting updated about current affairs but in times like this, when everything is closed, and COVID is spreading, you should avoid watching excessive news because that may make you feel depressed and ultimately less motivated.

So, try to watch news channels no more than once or twice a day during this pandemic.

Excessive Use of Social Media:

Spending most of your time on your mobile phones make you tired mentally. By using excessive social media, you are making yourself lazy. Most of the people spend all day talking to friends and watching movies. It’s good to do so but up to a certain limit.

There are plenty of other activities which you can try at home like cooking, learning the piano, reading a book, writing a blog, etc. You should know how to manage your day so that you won’t feel tired and less motivated.

The Bottom Line

So, whenever a thought comes to your mind about what to do in quarantine, you can consider doing these things to keep yourself motivated. This free time has given us a lot of opportunities to fulfil our dreams and utilize our creative ideas into something different.

I suggest you do something that you don’t do in your normal routine like spending quality time with your family or reading your favourite book that you always wanted to read but couldn’t find time. Form a routine for new activities and plan your day wisely.
